The Rotary Clubs of New Bern presented a symbolic check for $25,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Craven County (HFHCC) at the site of the partnership home build located at 2308 Aycock Avenue in the Pembroke Community. The two Rotary clubs in Greater New Bern and the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate continue to build the first Rotary-Habitat Home in Craven County. Over 150 local Rotarians have committed to raising $40k and putting in 2000 hours of volunteer time to help one more hard-working community member have a decent place to live.
Several fundraisers are being scheduled over the next six months by both the Breakfast and Lunch Rotary clubs to support this project. On the third Friday of each month, four area businesses (Capt. Ratty’s, Persimmons, Brewery 99, and Nautical Star on Middle) are participating in the Breakfast club’s “Pints and Pinots” to offer 10% of their beer and wine sales between 6:00 and 8:00 pm.
In addition, the Rotary Club of New Bern recently donated proceeds from the raffle held at their annual Sham-Rockin’ event, which totaled a little over $600 for this collaborative project.
Plans for other fundraising events are being finalized.
