Habitat for Humanity Hosts UpScale ReSale to Champion Building HOMES, COMMUNITIES and HOPE
Habitat for Humanity of Craven County is hosting the UpScale ReSale & Live Auction on Saturday, May 7th at 5:30pm. The event will be held at The Elks Club, located at 1175 Pine Tree Dr., New Bern, NC 28562.
New Bern, NC, May 4, 2022: As Habitat for Humanity of Craven County ReStore staff and volunteers diligently work to prepare for the UpScale ReSale & Live Auction on Saturday, they quickly recall the impacts of COVID and are able to rejoice in the new semblance of normal that is starting to appear. For years, Habitat for Humanity of Craven County’s ReStore (referred to by many as “The ReStore”) has hosted an auction to support their mission. During COVID, hosting a live event of this nature was not possible, shifting operations to host monthly smaller silent auctions within the store located at 930 Pollock St. With Craven County’s COVID-19 Community Level being low and more than half of the county’s population being vaccinated, this year will allow Habitat for Humanity of Craven County to once again, host a live auction.
For some, Habitat for Humanity of Craven County’s ReStore is a consignment shop known most for its top of line furniture and home décor. For families and staff, it’s “seeking to put God’s love into action to build homes, communities, and hope” so that we have “a world where everyone has a decent place to live”. When our community supports Habitat for Humanity of Craven County’s ReStore we REDUCE the amount of waste and the need to manufacture items, allow for the REUSE of things that still have value, and RECYCLE; diverting many items from the landfills. Proceeds from donations (monetary and in kind) help protect the environment and allows the local affiliate to build, repair, educate and invest in building communities. According to Mike Williams, Executive Director, “The cycle of community support of our retail enterprise, whether it’s from a donated item to a purchase, helps offset our operations expenses so we don’t have to raise funds just to keep our lights on and purchase office supplies. If it weren’t for the ReStore, we wouldn’t be able to build new homes, repair hurricane damaged homes, or offer some of our other programs,” said Williams.
Features at the UpScale ReSale & Live Auction include serenades by Alisa Mike, food, cash bar, raffle; and of course, the LIVE AUCTION with auctioneer, Sabrina Bengel. Some items up for auction include antique/vintage furniture, vacations, art, and so much more than can be listed. There have even been last minute additions, the evening of the event, like Yachting experiences!! You don’t want to miss this opportunity to support this mission with a night of fun!!
