Habitat for Humanity of Craven County (HFHCC) is urging donors to put their dollars to work locally to help families realize the dream of owning a safe, affordable home.

The nonprofit is launching its “Donate Locally, Build Our Community” campaign to stress the importance and community impact of local donors giving directly to HFHCC. Citizens who donate locally have the benefit of seeing their dollars at work in the community they live in, helping to build a brighter future for Craven County families.

Other benefits of donating directly to HFHCC include:

• Direct Impact: You can tangibly see your resources helping your neighbors and directly benefiting the environment where you live.
• Community Resilience: Supporting local charities fosters a stronger, healthier, sustainable and more resilient environment, which benefits the entire area.
• Trust and Accountability: Local organizations offer better visibility into where your money goes, making it easy to see the outcomes and build lasting relationships.

In the weeks ahead, HFHCC will use social media posts, updates on their website, articles in their newsletter and other outlets to remind Craven County residents of the impact their donations can make in their own community.

“Giving directly to our local affiliate helps us put those dollars to work immediately for Craven County families and ensures that we can continue that work into the future,” said HFHCC Executive Director Tracey Lilly. “You can look out your car window and see the visible impact your donation has made.”

Residents can donate to HFHCC in several ways:

• Donate online at cravencountyhabitat.charityproud.org/Donate
• Make a check out to "Habitat for Humanity of Craven County" and mail it to the HFHCC administrative office: Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, 930 Pollock Street, New Bern, NC 28562
• Become a monthly donor: GEM (Give Every Month) Partners make automatic donations every month, which makes it easier for HFHCC to plan long-term, budget more efficiently and create more life-changing outcomes. You choose how much to give and for how long, and you can change your amount or cancel at any time.

Habitat for Humanity of Craven County was established in 1989 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit Christian housing ministry. Over the last 35 years, HFHCC has helped build homes for more than 80 local residents, providing safe and stable living environments for adults and their children.
