Habitat for Humanity of Craven County names longtime volunteer to board of directors
Habitat for Humanity of Craven County has announced Alexander Williams III as the newest member of the nonprofit's board of directors.
Williams is a native of the town of Oxford in Granville County, NC. A member of the Webb High School class of 1975, Williams went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Music degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Throughout his career, he has taught band, chorus, and music appreciation classes in Jones and Craven counties.
Williams, who is married to New Bern native Brenda F. Williams, is a longtime volunteer at the HFHCC ReStore. He is also an active member of Craven County’s charitable and faith-based communities, serving as a member of the Praise Team at Wesley Covenant Church, the secretary of the Jones County Lions Club, and as the driver of a Meals on Wheels route each week.
Williams also finds time to pursue his love of music and vintage cars. He plays in two local bands and is a member of the Colonial Capital Rods and Classics car club.
Rose MacNeal, HFHCC Board of Directors chair and president, said Williams’ years of volunteer service and dedication to Habitat’s mission make him an important, and welcome, addition to its leadership team.
"Alexander is no stranger to our Habitat affiliate as he has been a regular volunteer in the Habitat ReStore,” said MacNeal. “I am pleased to have Alexander join our board of directors."
Habitat for Humanity of Craven County was established in 1989 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit Christian housing ministry. Over the last 35 years, HFHCC has helped build homes for more than 80 local residents, providing safe and stable living environments for adults and their children.
