"If you've come to help me, you're wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." - Lila Watson
A few months ago we began an exciting initiative to raise $100,000 to support Habitat for Humanity of Craven County building homes in our community. We were planning on kicking off with a fall party at the home of Beverly Perdue and Bob Eaves. COVID caution led us to postpone that kick off and schedule a celebration instead on April 1, 2022.
Though we were unable to hold our kickoff event, we have already received over $67,000 towards our goal, thanks to the generosity of 31 donations. We are excited by this response and we believe that over the next few weeks we can and will achieve the goal.
The need for housing in our community has never been greater. You are certainly familiar with all of the circumstances that have increased this need in the recent past. Habitat for Humanity’s process permits hardworking and responsible families to move to home ownership that would, otherwise, be impossible. The mortgage payment of these home owners and annual support from our donors and volunteers make it possible for this program to be available. Yet, at this time of exceptional need, we are asking more people to step forward for this special initiative.
