POSITION: Assistant Repair Site Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Neighborhood Revitalization Director

DIRECT REPORTS: Committee Volunteers, Volunteers when involved in NR/Community Development work, AmeriCorps Members

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Performs and manages others in the completion of tasks directly related to building and repairing project homes, while upholding the standard of partnerships, quality, safety, and team participation. Works alongside the Repair Site Supervisor, assisting with oversight of construction process and coordination of work including scheduling and working with subcontractors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide a safe and clean working environment at all times – Abiding by all Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, OSHA, and EPA safety standards.
  • Directly supervise volunteers, AmeriCorps members, providing construction and leadership training, mentoring, and daily instruction while interacting effectively and positively with staff, volunteers and other team members.
  • Continuously assist with the development and evaluation of construction processes that maintain quality of construction in accordance with local, state, federal, and Habitat for Humanity of Craven County building standards and ensure NR construction goals are met.
  • Maintain flexibility of schedule to utilize volunteers, assist Repair Site Supervisor, and respond to specific homeowner and office requests.
  • Maintain Habitat for Humanity of Craven County equipment, as assigned.
  • Conduct onsite orientations for volunteers that communicates daily/weekly goals and safety standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between homeowners and volunteers.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for planning and tracking repair project progress including (but not limited to) permits, volunteers, agreements with contractors, expenditures, etc.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Home construction knowledge along with the ability to effectively evaluate home repair needs/costs that help determine whether a project is within the scope of programming.
  • Complete work assessments, cost estimates and develop scope of work documents in conjunction with Homeowner Services for identified projects that fall within program guidelines.
  • Manage all aspects of the Repair and/or Rehab process from project start through the warranty process as directed by Repair Site Supervisor.
  • Strong project management, project implementation, budgeting and communication skills. Plan for each work day in advance to ensure that all necessary resources- material and human- are available to complete the task list and keep the job moving forward on schedule.
  • Track project costs to ensure projects remain within budget and provide necessary accounting documentation.
  • Assist with the development of an evaluation method that assists in providing feedback needed to improve project timelines and budgeting methods.
  • Supervise, monitor, and delegate tasks to volunteers, home owners and other team members as appropriate.
  • Complete walkthrough reports (safety, framing, and final) in a timely manner in partnership with the Repair Site Supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to warranty work in partnership with the Repair Site Supervisor.
  • Notify the appropriate team member, in a timely manner, when team resources (financial and human) are needed for specific jobs.
  • Utilize Habitat's administrative tools for job management (e. g. the construction manual, safety guidelines, ordering forms, volunteer management, etc.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to work and maneuver on roofs and high spaces
  • Ability to work in tight confines and within crawlspaces
  • Ability to maneuver over uneven ground
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to stand most or all of any given day
  • Ability to work outside for extended periods of time during all months of the year.
  • Ability to operate basic computer skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 
  • Valid driver license with good driving record
  • Occasional travel throughout Craven & Jones Counties and some overnight travel to other states may be required
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

POSITION: ReStore Ambassador/Driver
(Full Time, Tuesday through Saturday)

REPORTS TO: ReStore Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The ReStore Ambassador’s primary duties are to pick up at residential and commercial locations, and receive donated merchandise, evaluate as to acceptability for sale, and deliver to the donation receiving area. Secondary responsibilities include customer service, merchandising, and receiving drop-off donations during affiliate’s open hours.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receive donated materials donated to the store by donors
  • Using the ReStore truck, pick-up donated materials at contractor, commercial or residential locations
  • Regularly deliver recycle or waste items to transfer station
  • Assist with merchandising the sales floor
  • Assist with customer purchase loading
  • Communicate professionally and in a personable manner with all donors and customer; serve as Ambassador for Habitat Craven County and ReStore
  • Work cooperative and positively with other staff members and volunteers
  • Perform such other tasks as request by the ReStore Manager
  • Exhibit positive working attitude by demonstrating respect for fellow workers, donors, customers and volunteers
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors and customers
  • Provide routine truck maintenance and ensure repairs and service records are complete and current
  • Complete all paperwork, analysis and record keeping of donated items and Craven County driving routes according to HFHCC policies
  • Follow the highest ethical and professional standards both on and off-site
  • Learn and adhere to all policies and procedures, including safety standards, of Habitat Craven County
  • Participate in all required training programs
  • Other tasks as may be necessary or assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive motions
  • Standing and walking for up to 8 hours/shift
  • Moving merchandise with carts, dollies, hand trucks and other moving equipment
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Minimum six (6) months experience driving a 15’ truck or larger
  • Demonstrated history as self-starter, reliable, dependable, responsible and professional employee
  • Proven stability to apply good judgement, strong ethics, consideration and even temperament at work
  • Willingness to learn and support Mission of Habitat for Humanity of Craven County
  • Foster and contribute to a positive team oriented work environment
  • Experience driving larger delivery vehicles preferred
  • Experience with home improvement and hardware merchandise a plus
  • Experience moving, packing, shipping or receiving a plus
  • Knowledge and familiarity with region, community and neighborhoods a plus
  • Willing to agree to a background check and drug test if considered for hire

POSITION: ReStore Sales Associate
(Part Time, 23-30 hours per week)

REPORTS TO: ReStore Manager

BASIC FUNCTIONS

Work as part of a team with other staff and volunteers to receive donations, maintain a safe and inviting sales space, assist customers and process sales transactions. Spanish/ other languages a plus.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES
  • Ensure customers and donors have positive experiences while at the Restore
  • Operate cash register, process customer payments, process “SOLD” tags, and reconcile register
  • Clean facility as needed inside and out
  • Promptly answer phone to the ReStore
  • Clean, test, price, and arrange donated items on sales floor in systematic and visually appealing manner
  • Identify and resolve potential safety hazards
  • Move trash and recycling to designated containers
  • Help to engage and motivate volunteers to ensure that they have an positive experience interacting with customers, donors and other volunteers
  • Assist with unloading Restore truck as needed
OTHER DUTIES
  • Communicate mission of Habitat for Humanity
  • Assist with Habitat for Humanity special events as needed
  • Comply with all policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by Restore Management
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrated history as self-starter, reliable, dependable, responsible and professional employee

  • Experience using various social media platform
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to move and handle boxes of merchandise, furniture and fixtures throughout the donation process, which entails lifting up to 75 pounds, assisted
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English
  • Ability to operate cash register, complete documentation for sales, and accurately count currency and make change
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing as selected
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Adhere to work schedule, show initiative, honest, drug free, positive attitude, customer service oriented, must have dependable transportation to work
