Signed Chagall Print

This is a lithograph print of one of the twelve frescoes on the ceiling of the Opera Garnie unveiled in September 1964. It was inspired by Wagner’s opera “Tristan and Isolde.” The couple leans toward one another, surrounded by Chagall’s two favorite monuments, the Arc de Triomphe and the Placide la Concorde. For Chagall, love was the force that moved everything and bound it together. He painted with total motion, no top or bottom, no gravity or resistance. The dominant color is green, lit with the red of passion. The signed, numbered print, 325/500, is double-matted and surrounded by a gold wooden frame.
