Originally from Ohio, Michelle graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Secondary Education in 2005. After graduation, she moved to Northern Virginia to teach high school Social Studies. In 2011, she married her college sweetheart Thom and moved to Fayetteville, NC where she continued her career in education. His career in Bankruptcy Law led them to Belleville, Illinois in 2016. Michelle continued her education career, but was able to teach through a local AmeriCorps opportunity. Another move was in the future, leading the couple to New Bern, North Carolina in September 2019. Michelle was thrilled to see an opening for Volunteer Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, as she had served in a similar position at her former school district.. Michelle joined the team in December and took over the position in January. The best part of her job is working with volunteers and homeowners and meeting new people. In her free time, she enjoys camping, exploring in their Jeep and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
