Keep the spirit of Thanksgiving alive long after you have gobbled up the turkey! Share our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live by making a donation today to Habitat for Humanity of Craven County.
Habitat for Humanity of Craven County has joined #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring annually the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities by giving back in a variety of ways to the charities and causes they support.
#GivingTuesday is a national social media movement to celebrate, inspire, and provide incentives to for individuals to give of themselves, in whatever way possible, to support their communities.
#GivingTuesday was started as a response to the over commercialization and consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday (the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving).
After making a donation, supporters share the organization’s name (or Handle) and donation link of the cause they are supporting on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram with #GivingTuesday and #Unselfie to inspire friends and families to participate and also give.
There are many ways to give! Become a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, make a financial donation, make a donation of gently used furniture or appliances to our ReStore, or offer to make a lunch or bring snacks to our construction crews. Be creative to suggest how you would like to be involved.
